I Am So 733+
A few weeks ago I had an in-house stereo systems installed. It is great, and I can listen to random mp3s all throughout the house. I can also listen to XFM in London (the thing my wife and I miss the most about England) over the Internet and listen to it all over the house. It’s the coolest. I even have a subwoofer with a remote control, which pleases me greatly.
But what is not the coolest is that I am expected to pay someone to program the system. On authorized installers get proprietary software and little IR thingy that can be used to configure the controller. It is so obnoxious that I payed thousands of dollars for this system, and I don’t even have the keys to it. At first I was going to just buy the configuration system, but when I saw the price of $999 I got madder.
With a little work on the company’s website, a .NET decompiler, and Notepad, I was able to crack the controller software and get full access to my system. Take that you bitches.
To be more precise, I was able to download the configuration, edit it, and save it to my computer. I’m a little nervous about uploading it because I have the chance of really screwing up my stereo. So before I try to upload the config I will relish my victory with a blog posting.
