Roll the rat in the peanut butter. Sprinkle generously with catnip. Find a large cat with a bad attitude towards rodents. Works every time.

When I had a similar problem, we found that the rodents were clever enough to lick the peanut butter off the trap without triggering the device. Mike came up with wrapping a wad of peanut butter in a piece (maybe 4 by 4 inches) of my old nylons with a nice juicy nut embedded in the center. Twist the nylon around the wad and put the free end in the trap hook. It makes it more probable that they will trigger the trap. (worked for us every time!) Roz
